Investment Team & Organization

While Ranger’s investment process is collaborative in nature, the Chief Investment Officer has ultimate decision-making authority and oversight with respect to all portfolio management activities for all Ranger International strategies.

William R. Andersen, CFA

Senior Portfolio Manager and Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Andersen is a founding principal of Ranger International and serves as the Chief Investment Officer and Senior Portfolio Manager of all Ranger global and international portfolios, a position he has held since the inception date of each strategy. Prior to joining Ranger and between the years of 1985 and 2003, Mr. Andersen was employed by Driehaus Capital Management, where among other roles, he served both as a Portfolio Manager and as the Chief Investment Officer within Driehaus’ international division. Mr. Andersen built an investment team which managed over $2.5 billion in assets among multiple international/global asset classes, including small cap, large cap and emerging markets. In 2004, Mr. Andersen formed Andersen Capital Management where he served as a Portfolio Manager of the global and international strategies.

Mr. Andersen earned a B.A. degree in Economics from Stanford University in 1981 and a MBA from the University of Chicago in 1985. Mr. Andersen is a CFA® charterholder.

Jeffery Middleswart


Mr. Middleswart has over 20 years’ experience as an analyst and portfolio manager and currently serves as a Research Adviser to Ranger International. Mr. Middleswart joined Ranger International in 2011. Mr. Middleswart has previously served as a Senior Analyst and Assistant Portfolio Manager for Ranger, responsible for identifying and monitoring investment opportunities for the Ranger Global Income & Growth Strategy. Prior to serving with Ranger, Mr. Middleswart was engaged with Behind the Numbers (BTN), an institutional research boutique focused on uncovering investment opportunities using forensic accounting, initially as an analyst and ultimately as the Director of Research and President.  From 1990-1993, Mr. Middleswart was a Senior Analyst at Barre & Company, a fixed income boutique specializing in municipal bonds.

Mr. Middlewswart received a BBA in Finance from Texas Christian University.

William Whiteside, Jr., CFA


Mr. Whiteside joined Ranger International in 2011 and currently serves as a Research Adviser for the firm. Previously, Mr. Whiteside served as a Senior Analyst and Head Trader responsible for researching and monitoring investment opportunities.  Mr. Whiteside served as an Analyst for Behind the Numbers (BTN) prior to joining Ranger, an institutional research boutique which uncovered investment opportunities using forensic accounting.  Among other accomplishments at Behind the Numbers, Mr. Whiteside developed an institutional research product entitled the Dividend Sustainability Report, which has become a valuable risk management tool on behalf of the Ranger Global Income & Growth Strategy.

Mr. Whiteside received his BBA in Finance with a Minor in History from Texas Christian University. Mr. Whiteside is a CFA® charterholder.

Operations and Client Service

Ranger’s operations and client service colleagues enable the investment team to focus on important portfolio management decisions, research, security selection and risk management responsibilities with minimal administrative interference. Activities the operations team manage include accounting and finance, legal and compliance, information technology and human resources.

Similarly, the client service team administers all investor relations responsibilities to help ensure current and prospective clients receive a quality experience worthy of their confidence in Ranger. Promptly responding to investor requests, disseminating monthly statements and quarterly reports as well as facilitating client communication with investment and operations team members are a number of the activities managed by the client service group.
